Liverpool Echo:- Jim Beglin names three left-backs Liverpool could sign

“Jurgen, transfer committee, anyone, sign a f***ing left back.”
That was Jamie Carragher’s deleted tweet during Liverpool’s Europa League final against Sevilla last season as Alberto Moreno’s poor performance contributed to the 3-1 defeat.
But Jurgen Klopp has so far failed to heed Carragher’s advice this summer - something he may have been regretting just half an hour into their Premier League campaign.

The Spaniard conceded a penalty after a terrible tackle on Theo Walcott, which was subsequently missed by the Arsenal winger.

However, just one minute later, Moreno was caught horribly out of position allowing Walcott to make amends and put Arsenal 1-0 up.
Carragher, to his credit, refrained from tweeting about Moreno’s performance but his thoughts must have been exactly the same as all Liverpool fans: ‘Klopp desperately needs to sign a new left-back.’

Who is available?

But who is available? The club have been linked with the likes of Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and FC Koln’s Jonas Hector during the previous few weeks, but it seems as though both deals are dead in the water.
But one former Liverpool left-back has named three players that could be available to replace Moreno.
Jim Beglin played for the Reds for six years in that position and the BT Sport co-commentator was asked to name some available left-sided defenders.

The former Ireland international named Hull’s Andrew Robertson, Robbie Brady from Norwich and Charlie Daniels from Bournemouth as three potential signings for Klopp.
While those three players may not necessarily be the high-profile signing some Liverpool supporters are hoping for, they would no doubt be an improvement on Moreno if the Spaniard continues to produce disappointing performances.

Sky Sports' opinion

During Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, Sky Sports pundits were less than impressed with Moreno’s performance.
Co-commentator Gary Neville said: "You might as well start a goal down with Moreno at left-back,” and branded his challenge on Walcott “absolutely garbage.”

Thierry Henry and Graeme Souness were equally scathing.
Henry said: "He's been all over the place. On top of everything he has the gumption to complain about the penalty!"
While Graeme Souness stated: "He's having a stinker. He's a winger playing left-back, he doesn't sense danger early enough."
Whether Klopp will hear Beglin’s calls remains to be seen but Liverpool fans can only hope.
