Early Life and Education
Ibrahim Chatta, also known as Ibrahim Abiodun Chatta, was born on October 13th, 1970 in Bachita, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. He belongs to the Tapa ethnic group, specifically the Nupe ethnic group, although his mother is from Modakeke, Osun State. Despite his Tapa descent, Ibrahim has developed remarkable command and fluency in the Yoruba language. However, during his early years, he struggled with unruly behavior, frequently getting into fights and causing trouble, which had a negative impact on his education.
Ibrahim Chatta’s passion for acting was ignited when he started attending theater plays and witnessing performances by legendary actors like Duro Ladipo, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), and Ray Eyiwunmi. Inspired by their talent, Ibrahim decided to pursue a career in acting. He began his professional journey in 1985, joining Joseph Laoye (uncle Joe), a product of baba Ray, which served as his launchpad to becoming an accomplished actor in Nollywood. He primarily works in the Yoruba film industry.
In addition to his acting skills, Ibrahim Chatta is also known for his singing talent. He has performed over 100 soundtracks and numerous commercial jingles in the Yoruba language. Ibrahim has even collaborated with Alhaji Abdulkabir Alayande (Ere Asalatu) and has released popular hip-hop songs such as “My Money,” “Area,” “Friday Night,” and “Boom Boom Boom.”
